What to expect

Our goal is to make your first visit feel like you have come home…for indeed, you have! The following is a snapshot of what you can expect as a guest at Yorba Linda United Methodist Church.

What to Wear
God’s house doesn’t have a dress code so neither do we. Worshipers at YLUMC wear everything from shorts and polo shirts to business casual. Our service provides a “come as you are” casual atmosphere for worship. Feel free to wear clothing that allows you feel comfortable.

Parking
We have two parking areas for you to use.  If you’re coming east on Yorba Linda Blvd., you’ll find a small parking lot entrance just before reaching the first light at Ohio St. (heading north).  This lot is best those with limited mobility or if you need a handicap designated space.  We have several parking spaces designated for first time guests.

If you turn south on Ohio, you’ll find the entrance to our main parking area.  Parking there will allow you to experience the walk through our campus – which is much like walking in a park.  We designated several parking spaces for families with young children since that’s closer to where your children will be as the service ends.

Entering the Church
Our sanctuary is located in the northeast corner of our property.  So, from the parking lot closest to Yorba Linda Blvd. You can easily see where you’re headed.  From the main parking lot, you’ll see a greeter who’ll welcome you and point you in the best direction.

At each entrance, greeters welcome everyone with smiles and provide you with a bulletin. They can answer any questions you may have, but if the greeter doesn’t know the answer, he or she will certainly know who to ask or where to find it.

The Worship Experience
You will be greeted again as you enter the sanctuary. As you enter, find a seat where you’ll be comfortable.  If you need an assistive hearing device, ask an usher or greeter and they’ll check one out to you.

Our service is 60 to 75 minutes long and begins with contemporary praise music lead by our Praise Band.  During announcements we’ll fill out Communication Cards for attendance and prayer requests.  While we hope you’ll let us know you came, you’re under no obligation to do so.

Following our greeting time, the children come forward for their time with the Pastor, after which, they’ll be lead over to Sunday School.

Other elements you may experience are congregational prayer, scripture reading, offering and each week, Pastor Lynn presents a message which we believe will engage and inspire you.

If you want to experience Communion, plan to attend on the first Sunday of the month.  We have a variety of special Sundays throughout the year so chances are you’ll find something special happening when you arrive.

What Happens After Church
In a word…Fellowship!  Join us on the patio for light refreshments.  Greet Pastor Lynn and ask her any questions you might have about your visit and our church.  If you have kids, you’ll want to be ready to pick them up within 10 minutes after the service.
